Crushers and Impact Breakers

We have developed a range of bespoke crushers suitable for many applications. We will consult with you on your needs for crushing materials and advise as to the most appropriate method from our experience. We have developed the following crushers that can be designed to fit your requirements for:

  • Material type, density and volume
  • Tonnage per hour
  • Size reduction requirements

Shredders

ShredderOur Shredders are suitable for a range of metallics such as:

  • Consumer aluminium products, such as cans or castings.
  • Car and Industrial batteries
  • Steel Drums

Typical specification, engineered to meet your requirements:

  • dual shaft shredder
  • Low revving, high torque, hydraulic geared direct drive motors
  • no-rebound hoppers

Impact Breakers

Impact BreakerImpact breakers are suitable for a variety of applications such as breaking of aggregates or other metallic/plastic products to finer parts for further sorting. In our horizontal shaft Impacters, the material enters through a no-rebound hopper and is contained within a cage, with openings on the bottom of the desired size to allow pulverized material to escape. Crushers of this type are usually used with soft and non-abrasive material such as aggregates, limestone, gypsum or soft metallic ores.

Ball Mills

Ball mills are cylindrical crushers typically used for grinding materials such as ores, chemicals, and raw ceramic materials. Ball mill crushers use a grinding medium placed inside a rotating drum to crush materials, the drum rotates horizontally, containing both the grinding medium and the materials which are to be ground. A variety of materials can be used as a grinding media, such as cast steel or manganese steel balls. The continual cascade caused by rotation grinds the material to a powder. Ball mills can be both fed and discharged from opposing ends whilst in operation, meaning that they can operate on a continuous basis.

Ball Mill with Sliced View

The typical specification of a Ball Mill for an Aluminium Dross treatment would be:

  • The ball mill cage is manufactured from 20mm, 25mm and 40mm thick steel plate including inlet and outlet hollow trunnions 450mm inside diameter.  The cage measures 1900mm outside diameter by 1900mm long (not including trunnions) and is fully stressed relieved after fabrication prior to machining.
  • Case hardened tyres are located at each trunnion and bolted into position being replaceable in the event of wear. The cage is internally lined with 10% manganese steel wear plates bolted into position together with end grid plated and separator plates which retain approximately 3 tonnes of 100 diameter cast steel balls.
  • The steel grid and separators are designed to allow continuous milling of material in one direction of rotation, including separation of oxide fines, and will allow milled metallics below 75mm in size to discharge through the exit trunnion in the opposite rotational direction.
  • An outer replaceable screen allows oxide fines to fall through to the crushers hopper where it is collected and conveyed to a silo. Oxide dust is extracted through the air swept action of the mill and collected at the bag filter and bagged.
  • The whole assembly is mounted on case hardened, steel roller assemblies at each end, each assembly incorporating two base rollers and one top retaining roller. All rollers are mounted on high tensile steel shafts and incorporate double roller bearing units.
  • The mill is vee belt driven by a 37.5kw geared motor unit arranged to drive the mill in both directions at speeds of between 3 and 10 rpm.
  • A common base frame supports the drive unit, mill, rolling stock and a sheet steel dust proof enclosure.
