Mechanical Grabs

Electro-Hydraulic Multi-Tined GrabOldroyd Intec have developed a range of Mechanical Grabs that are specially designed to meet vigorous demands in a wide variety of applications. Special attention has been given to ensuring that the construction is robust and rugged enough to withstand the most severe operational conditions.

Our continual evaluation process of design and manufacturing techniques integrate with our rigorous quality control procedure to produce a highly reliable and serviceable product.

An equally high standard of after sales service and
spares availability is an inherent feature of all
Oldroyd Intec Mechanical Grabs.

The following grabs are available as standard, although bespoke designs are also available:

  • Electro-Hydraulic Multi-Tined Grab - 0.35 to 2.0M³ grab capacity.
  • Electro-Hydraulic Clam Grab - 1 to 3M³ grab capacity.
  • Machine Mounted Multi-Tined Grab - 0.35 to 2.0M³ grab capacity.

Common features to our Mechanical grabs

  • Electro-Hydraulic Clam GrabAll mechanical grab bodies are fully welded construction from 6mm and 8mm mild steel plate with jaw plate thickness up to 15mm mild steel depending on application.
  • An optional feature available with all bulk handling mechanical grabs and essential when handling consolidated material is the ability to power dig using the jaws of the grab to loosen the material before grabbing.
  • A comprehensive range of cutting edges are available with all grab jaws.
  • The hydraulic power unit fitted to Electro-Hydraulic mechanical grabs is a conventionally designed contraflow system powered by a dual rotating electric motor. 
  • The hydraulic valves and components are of the highest quality internationally available, suitably sized to prevent overheating and arranged to provide quick and easy access for maintenance.
  • All hydraulic pipework and hose assemblies are tested to withstand shock loads of up to 300 bar and can be provided in BSP, UNF or Metric form.
  • All hydraulic cylinders incorporate hard chrome plated rods and seals that are internationally available and interchangeable.
  • All multi-tined grabs can be configured to handle many types of material in loose or stranded form such as industrial scrap or residues.
  • Special attachments can also be fitted for handling specific objects such as tubing, billets, rocks or bales.
  • Our light weight and economical machine mounted mechanical grab is manufactured to a high standard of robustness using high tensile special steels. A specially designed hydraulic distribution manifold provides fixed pipework connections to the host machine, this means much shorter flexible hose assemblies can be utilised without fear of twisting or snagging.
  • Easily interchangeable tines, tine tips, cylinders and bushes are typical features that Oldroyd Intec incorporate into their mechanical grabs to assist maintenance and reduce downtime.
