Refinery Equipment, Pots and Kettles

Lead Pumps and Stirrers

Oldroyd Intec have vast experience of designing and supplying the refinery products that enable our customers to efficiently refine the metals to their desired specification culminating in the production of commercial grade metal ingots.

We can work with our customers to design and supply any type of refinery equipment using our engineering knowledge and experience. Typical examples of equipment we have designed and supplied are:

  • Refining PotRefining Pots & Kettles
  • Lead Pumps and Stirrers
  • Sidewell & Holding Furnaces
  • Soft Lead Scrap Docks
  • Metal Launders
  • Ingot and Block Casting Machines
  • Centrifugal Casting Machines.

Refining Pots & Kettles

  • High specification melting pots up to 300 Tonne offered in dished and flanged head or hemispherical configuration.
  • Robust kettle housing incorporating high efficiency refractory and insulation
  • High performance multiplex burner includes high/low control through pot mounted thermocouple
  • Optional hygiene enclosure and utility bridge

Lead PumpLead Pumps

  • Split cast iron pump casing for easy maintenance
  • Common frame design Interchangeable pump heads
  • Robust construction
  • Approximate weight 665 - 750 kg
  • Pumps designed for casting applications and is inverter rated for prolonged use at variable speed.
  • Other pumps are designed for lead transport applications at fixed speed.

Lead Stirrers

Lead Stirrer

  • Heavy plate construction
  • High surge impellor casting mounted on robust steel shaft
  • Variable speed operation
  • Heavy duty bearing assemblies
  • Approximate weight 1580 kg
  • Upgraded insulation standard to drive motor (30kw frame D250m motor)

Sidewell & Holding Furnaces

  • Our holding furnaces are designed to hold 10 tonnes of aluminium and maintain at a temperature of up to 7500C, although alternative tonnage design is available.
  • The design depth of the aluminium melt would be 500mm on top of which a freeway of 100mm has been allowed.
  • This design includes two fully modulating air gas burners each rated at 25 therms which would provide the necessary heat source and would allow melting of solid additions at a rate of 1 tonne per hour at maximum firing.
  • For molten metal transfer from a rotary furnace and holding, a firing rate of 40 therms total would is usual.
  • The furnace includes a charge door at the front, mechanically operated by a geared motor and winch assembly.

Aluminium Sidewell FurnaceIncluded with the furnace are:

  • Tapping spout
  • Feed launder and tapping launder (both with refractory)
  • Tapping spout burner
  • Launder heaters (nozzle burners)
  • Electrical controls for the burner and furnace door which will be included in one common panel suitable for wall mounting.

Soft Lead Scrap Dock

Oldroyd Intec have substantial experience in the design and supply of complete soft lead scrap docks with all associated mechanical handling equipment.  We will design the equipment to your exact requirements based on feedstock, process and capacity and ensure that your new scrap dock is integrated into your existing plant equipment.

Typical installation includes:

  • Melting facilities for soft scrap lead
    30 tonne - 120 tonne capacity.
  • Includes all operating platforms, dross handling, pot and housing, screening equipment.
  • Fume extraction and hp venturi scrubber included with bag filter for general hygiene ventilation.
  • Optional .35 cubic metre electro-hydraulic multi-tined grab for handling soft lead scrap.
  • Optional 1 cubic metre electro-hydraulic clam grab for handling soft lead scrap, paste and battery plates.
